Ahhhh, the weekend. Exhale.

Dancing queen

I really should have more footage to back up my point, but I guess I’m ill-prepared. Lately, the babe has laced up her dancing shoes and busted a few moves. I’m sure, for you "none mother’s of Evie," you would not consider this dancing, but that’s ok. When the gal hears a beat or a few lyrics away she goes.

Maybe she just hears it in her head or feels it in her heart because the radio wasn’t on yesterday…but she was dancing and I caught it.

Happy Thursday friends. It’s so rainy and gloomy here, but we are super close to Friday!

OH.SO.CLOSE….

With her 8th month birthday looming- entirely too close for my liking- this child is mere days from crawling. Those thighs create QUITE the obstacle though, but the determination is no doubt there. This is our view of Evie-tron these days…. Congrats to the Lowers. We are so happy for you guys and were honored to be a part of your special day. Lindsey, you were absolutely beautiful and I hate I didn’t get to hug your neck. Not so much the bride and groom… but we were once upon a time ago. We had to miss the reception, but this is proof that we were there sans Evie Black.

Two of a kind?

So, for obvious reasons, we are ALWAYS being told how much EB looks like JB. We know…WE ALL KNOW. I get the occasional “she looks like your mom,” which she really does, but we get the Jason look-a-like comments MORE than quite frequently. I’m pretty sure I carried her for umpteen months and I’m PRETTY sure I was there when I gave birth to her, but we have very few similarities…UNTIL MONDAY NIGHT.

(sadly this will be the last picture taken from my blackberry camera... it took a little ride on the roof of my car and will never be the same.)

Costco pizza is REALLY good to me and I REALLY like (aside from the fact that I can eat it for like negative dollars) it. So, after doing some shopping, we just set up shop right there in the high quality food court and had dinner. NO SHAME, FOLKS. The girl likes “pizza” and don’t you DARE take that crust out of her mouth- she gets fierce.

If you ever want to go to dinner at Costco, just holler! It’ll be a high class, fancy dinner on yours truly (p.s. I wish I could say that Jason and I have NEVER met there for lunch…but that would be a lie)!!

Mountain mayhem

This post will be long and probably boring for most of you…

A great weekend was had by all. Thanks to my parents for keeping the babe while JB and I were off on an adventure. His students were up in North Carolina with some incoming freshman doing some outdoor adventures. We joined them. It was fun. REALLY fun. I felt like I was a kid again and had the BEST time.

I love the mountains. However, I do think I’m on record earlier in the week saying, “If I’m driving ANYWHERE that’s 5+ hours, it better be to a beach.” Yeah, well, we went north instead of south- no beach, nor was the drive that long. However, Saturday I sat by the Nantahala and took it all in- ok, maybe I was just thankful to be alive at that point.... (ps the water was 42 degrees)It was beautiful outside. I was exhausted from the morning’s adventures. My hamburger was FABULOUS. The scenes of tennis shoes, paddles, etc floating down the river without their person was hilarious. My arms were still shaking and so were my legs. My diet coke was FABULOUS and I enjoyed spending time with Jason so very much.
We stayed in a quaint little bed and breakfast. So HELP me their Belgian waffles were to die for! I LOVE when things are quaint. It makes me wonder what life would be like if I lived in “quaint.”

The little bridged pathway to our room was pretty darn impressive. In my family, we have a small affinity to fish ponds and bridges (this bridge really was natural, dad).

The peace and quiet that was our b&b would soon be traded for this:

And this...

And so it began...

Dave, make sure it's tight. Dave, also make sure my husband takes GOOD care of EB. Also, Dave, one last wish, please update my blog for me in my absense.

It was high. Really high. I was really scared.

I put my life in her hands...That's scary. At least she's a nurse..or will be one day. HA!

Did I mention I had a ball? Did I also remind you that I'm TERRIFIED of heights? Let it be noted, that I did it... I just manned up and DID IT! I didn't go to the tippy-top for fear I might not come back down.

Moving on....

Oh wait... Where is Jason, you ask? Let's see.....Keeping his two feet on the ground and being in charge of "picture duty."

After putting your life in danger (b/c I feel strongly that that is just what I did-forget that I had on a harness, people), one deserves a NICE little campfire and....

s'mores, OF COURSE!

The babe was happy too and had a ball....

...And grew up over the weekend!

Of course, I'm so painfully sore, I can barely move. However, I'm not going to say that fears were conquered, but they were overlooked for a few short hours while we had fun.

Thrills and wagon wheels

At some point in the not-so-distant past (my memory is really bad these days) we went to visit the Parsons. They have “big” kids with “big” toys and Evie is always amused. Who knew you could have a “roller coaster” in your house? The Parsons do! Do not call DHR, I held on to her the whole time.

(really I wanted to play with Walker on his big ol’ water slide that looks like a giant moonwalk, but a huge water slide instead…that didn’t happen.)

(I thought about poking fun at JB's photography skills here and telling any of you that are interested in his services to call him...... but after further review.... it's kinda funny. We'll call this "art")

Since we were visiting Candyland, I thought I’d do some investigating since I want to get EB a wagon for her birthday......

...Looks like a success to me!

Friends! What would we do without friends in our lives?! These three (soon to be 4…not us, the Parsons) better love each other because we spend LOTS of time together. We sure do love these kiddos!

The reward for the parents, you ask?! It sure is nice to have friends with "big" kids and "little" toys. I'll take that...and that...and that too!

Harry and the gang

Allow me to apologize first off, I don’t really get Harry Potter, and dare I say that I’ve never seen A single movie or read so much as the FIRST word on the FIRST page?! True statement. I don’t get it, quite frankly, but that’s ok if you do. Maybe I’m just not smart or patient enough to sit through it. Something about some stupefy…and some Muggles…and a Lord Voldemort. That’s all I can remember. I don’t get it, but these cats sure did…..

.... and so does my child
