2010?!

A friend asked me this morning if I remember where I was 10 years ago during the Y2K scare. I CANNOT REMEMBER AND IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS! The only thing I remember is waiting to see if the lights (and everything else) continued to work once we crossed over into 2000. I was just waiting for the hum of the power to cease. HOWEVER….WHERE WAS I??!?! AHHHH! I doubt I was babysitting (don’t laugh..that was GOOD money)… Maybe I was visiting my best friend in Atlanta (was I, Carlee?)…Maybe we were at the lake? This will plague me all day.

Nonetheless, 10 years have come and gone. I do remember asking myself, “Where will I be in 10 years? Kids? No kids? Married? In Birmingham?” Crazy. Dare I mention that I was a senior in high school headed to the University of Alabama in the fall?! I WAS! YIKES! Time flies and I love this life- 10 years later.

Here's a little fun:

New Year's Eve last year.

EB a couple of nights ago post-molars (thank goodness) + wild hair.

So, Happy New Years! We will be as EXCITING as EVER hanging at the casa. AND….well… If I’m being honest, I will likely be asleep by 10. It’s hard being as exciting as the Blacks, I tell ya.

My little sugarplum...

Is nothing but a sour pill these days. I have one little word: molars. Wow. I can’t say that I wasn’t warned. While I chocked her attitude up to having Roseola [AGAIN] with 103+ temps the whole week of Christmas + a doctor’s visit, little did I know we’d recover from that and go right into molars. EB has handled her teeth quite champ-like….until…… well, Christmas, OF COURSE! My oh my.

This little sugarplum was so excited. She got overwhelmed and went to her old basket of toys learned to finagle the wrapping paper to perfection. The great mood carried itself right through Christmas morning. She was FULL of some lovin’ and lamp pole dancing swingin’ (I did NOT teach her that). More wrapping paper unwrapping and Grand Millie giggling. A tad bit of clowning around….
AND THEN…. THE ATTITUDE OF THE YEAR ENTERED WITH FORCE.

TEARS. TEARS. TEARS. THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. NO SLEEP TO BE HAD. NO LAUGHING TO BE ENJOYED. UNLESS…. you took the child outside. So, in the frigid temps we went….the swing was the ONLY magical force. THANKS SANTA BABY!
When the swinging stopped, the temper began.

Why thank you molars. Your presence IS welcomed. So, please hurry up. We are sleepless, short-tempered and overdosing on Motrin. You, dear molars, will cause my child to be the youngest in the dentist’s office being fitted for dentures because I will SURELY yank you out of her head if you do not hurry along. The end! All kidding (really I'm hardly kidding) aside, our Christmas was awesome. It’s always so special to have everyone together. Our family is more than generous to us and we are very appreciative- they tolerated all of the 400 mood swings in patient, flying colors by our youngest-quite adorable- member.

Three french hens

Wow! So, Christmas is SUPER close and I’ve gotten super behind on the ol’ blog. Remember how I broke my camera? Well, my sweet husband gave me a new camera for my birthday. Isn’t that awesome!? He’s incredibly generous. So, I’ve been playing with it a tad and it’s a very wee bit bigger than my point and shoot camera, so I never really take the time to download stuff.
Anyway, so here’s what we’ve been up to (I’m sure you’ve been DYING to know, right?). The words have nothing to do with the pictures, but the REAL Christmas story is the reason we celebrate and I felt like I should share- since we have Santa pics, talk about Santa, etc. I don’t want to lead anyone astray from what we believe and live as the true meaning of this season- The birth of Jesus.
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)And everyone went to his own town to register.
(Not baby Jesus, but newest baby-friend Mary Grace. I ate her alive)

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
(Jason trying his hand at our first fried turkey....)

Merry CHRISTmas from the Blacks!! We hope y'all have a very Merry and blessed CHRISTmas.

Stagger Lee

Have I mentioned that I have a walker? Well, I do. She’s pretty darn cute at it. She’s as wobbly as they come and quite possibly the most bruised in her class. Hey, she comes by it honestly. She started walking right around her birthday and has slowly worked on perfecting her sashay ever since. Of course, she thinks she’s 13 and that she can handle stairs, streets, grocery stores and Santa with great ease. FALSE!

Got chocolate?

Sometimes my deductive reasoning isn’t as sharp as a tack. Well, it really never is, but this isn’t about me. So, I ordered EB a chocolate cake because she’s only 1 and I can still have my way and I like chocolate icing. Besides, she needs to venture into this realm of eating/tasting. However, I DRESSED HER IN A WHITE DRESS? Really? Am I that slow? Good possibility. Excuse the quality... I have no idea.

The face of a chocolate eater....

She is her father's child...studing EVERY last option.

Taste and see that it is good....quite good.

The good....

The kinda good....

the "my momma don’t lead a gal astray" kinda good....

The bad! I need you to really see this. Please look at the cup...and the tray...and oh, my child in her WHITE!!

The end.

The end result? I think she just tolerated the chocolate.
