I really miss EB when the attachment has been cut from my hip, but it was so nice to sleep in. Our schedules have been INSANE since September, so we got to sleep, take life at a different pace for less than 48 hours and how sweet it was to do so!
I also deducted that I could be Cajun. I love a lot of the same things as those Cajun folk:Like...COLOR!
SAINTS! I think I sang the loudest at the piano bar when they sang "When the Saints come marching in."
Balconies!
Jambalaya. I ordered it for EVERY meal.

DOORS!

This door has a round opening just big enough for my face to see who's there and say, "Go away!"

Ok, so maybe not this. No matter how many years of
"experience." It was just a pretty COLORful sign.
"experience." It was just a pretty COLORful sign.

He liked me too. He tried to smile despite his blinders.
We meant to buy this for Evie because it perfectly describes her.

And…. Remember, we were really there for a wedding…..

Is this not fabulous? Oh my!

We were excited to see each other.

We may or may not have totally stolen her from her guests. We love this gal dearly. She is a huge part of our lives. What an honor to share this special day with her.

This puts "something blue" on a WHOLE new level.

Bliss! I love them and we could NOT be happier for these newlyweds.

See! Proof that I was in NOLA. (I pretty much saw this and stopped traffic...all for the sake of the blog)

AND..... This one...didn't miss a beat. I think she wishes I would leave her every weekend. She came home FULL of personality.

The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting late."
The second one said, "But we don't care."
The third one said, "I see witches in the air."
The fourth one said, "Let's run, and run, and run."
The fifth one said, "Get ready for some fun."
Then whoosh went the wind,
And out went the lights,
And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

We laugh endlessly at her…Well, mostly. She has gotten a HECK of a lot of “EVELYN BLACK” lately! Ironically, she answers as well to that as she does “Evie” so I guess I waste my time on those extra syllables. We are in the FULL OUT, FULL FLEDGED ‘terrible’ twos. We can throw a MEAN tantrum. It’s AMAZING how quickly she has learned to activate the water works. REALLY?! A STREAM OF TEARS IN A MATTER OF MERE SECONDS.
It’s amazing how the Lord designed her little intricacies. It’s amazing that He designed her just so. It’s amazing, I have to admit, that she is a perfect mix of both of our personalities- what a sight we are all together, a family of Type A’s. Amazing. I’m amazed that the best two years of my life have FLOWN by. I’m amazed that I was chosen to be EB’s mom. Usually several times a day I’m shocked that she’s MINE (or ours)! She gets to go home with me. I get to eat her alive and enjoy her. I get to take care of her. I get to kiss those little cheeks ALL I WANT! It’s simply amazing, isn’t it?! The list goes on and on. Two whopping years? Wow.
She’s fun. Like, a whole lot of really really fun. Her vocabulary, in the last month, is a whole new world (she has repeated me a couple-or 20- times and it’s a NICE, humble reminder I need to watch my mouth). She’s mine, but I think she’s smart. I pray she’s smart like her daddy…pray pray pray! She’s quite a savvy little thing, that doesn’t quite always work to my advantage. She’s wild. Full of energy. Fast as lightening (until I need her to be and then we’re slow as a turtle). She’s nosey. She’s sweet. She’s caring. She LOVES her daddy. She is a social butterfly. I could go on and on.
We love this little season of her life and ours.

It invites my coffee habit to come back in full force. It means that Jason HAS to have new fall candles. Never mind that there are 30 under the cabinet. They are no longer “fally” enough, nor do they appeal to him. Who knew one’s taste could change from one fall to another. So, with new candles in tow, he’s a happy little puckin’. If I’m being honest, I am too. I’m ok with this obsession of his because we are both fairly OCD about smells….living with a toddler only escalates my OCD, by the way.
My scars have now faded from my war with the glue gun and I have a new love for “Evie ghost.” I think she’s cute. The real Evie loves “Evie ghost.” Oct. 1 barely had time to make an appearance before I had her residing on the front porch.
Speaking of outside décor, as we leave our ‘hood every morning, we have to stop, count and acknowledge all puckin’s. The real Evie is OBSESSED! Have her parents stopped to buy her one, you ask?? No, but it’s on this weekend’s to-do list. Thankfully, our neighbor loves her enough to let her light her puckin’ every night. Mom of the year, right here! Lastly, under outside décor, I was talked into an orange- FALL(!!!!)- bow for my mailbox. I love it. Jason isn’t a fan. Another neighbor informed me she thought I had become an Auburn or Tennessee fan over night. Ok, that is NOT acceptable and it may have to be promptly removed. I live in the south. This is how we equate and compare colors down here, y’all! She makes a VERY valid point…especially with this week’s game looming.
I’ll keep you posted on Clowdess. Who comes up with a name like that? My dad has been heavily medicated for the past three weeks for an eye condition that is resulted in emergency surgery (I’m sure he loves this making the blog). So, perhaps “Clowdess” was birthed under a heavy medicated state. Yet, he's endearing.... while he fishes in the pond??!?!
Evie went to see Clowdess. They became fast friends.
Did I mention it’s fire safety week? A fire truck visited her school…she was a REALLY big fan.
Just thought I should mention that so you don’t think my parents are part-time members of the local volunteer fire department.
If they were, my dad would probably refuse to wear his safety goggles…..men can be stubborn.
