We are busy these days

I caught EB “in the act” several times this weekend and thought I’d share….

YEP! CAUGHT YA!

She does this too....and QUICKLY!

Just becuase I love this face.

Finally.... we wrangled her.....

Ehhhh...Actually, I wrangled ALL of them.

Do you feel sorry for them? Don't. Ohh, you can't tell them apart? I know. I know.

(Jason is smart enough to KNOW I'm gonna put stuff like this on the blog...or so you would think, but he still poses. GOOD BOY!)

Bama fashionista

As promised, EB is here to share her VERY important fashion trends for the fall. Your attire TOTALLY depends on your mood and she has tips for all occasions. While she has a few visual aids, she wasn’t a huge fan of posing for the camera and flaunting her fashion, so work with her, if you will.

Sometimes you are full of team spirit and REALLY want to show your colors....

WHOA EB!! This is a Bama post, not Samford. That day is coming.

Then, there are days that you just want to make your folks proud....

So, while dressed in your team colors, you smile sweetly and do tricks.

Then, they want your "best" side. Sometimes they forget you've had HFMD, your g'mom "gave" you a black eye and your covered in scratches- THERE ISN'T A BEST SIDE.

Some days you just want to feel cute and fancy like the greek sisters. Bring on the ruffles.

Sometimes you're surrounded by "others" and you need to be subtle.....

AND...it's ALWAYS good to have the "girl next door" look in a t-shirt and jeans.

It's game weekend. ROLL TIDE! (in case you ever had a moment's doubt)

We bid farewell…

I love a good ol’ gummy smile along with a gummy kiss….. but we officially said farewell to that in the Black household yesterday. EB has now cut her two top teeth and she looks 12. Sigh. I have been doing my civic duty this week trying to serve on jury duty, but they didn’t want me. I was enjoying it too.

This great granddaddy (along with my grandmother) drove down to the beach with my mom for the week on Sunday. They weren’t there 30 minutes and he slipped getting out of the shower and broke his hip. SO, after being evaluated at Pensacola hospital, they transported him back to Birmingham late Sunday evening and he had hip surgery yesterday. He is doing incredibly well and for that we are INCREDIBLY grateful. I hope they enjoyed their trip to the beach! HA! Sad day.
Look at that tiny baby!! She was a mere few hours old.

Evie has her groove back…

and for all of you dead folks from holding your breathe, I have 9 month chair pics FINALLY. In case you’re new (I’m not arrogant enough to think you are or that many folks read this anyway), I started monthly chair pics with EB after reading this girl’s blog who has now gone private or I would post a link. No, of course I didn’t know her. Anyway, she took them monthly of her little girl and I thought it was a grand idea. While it proves to be a war EVERY.SINGLE.MONTH b/c EB is QUITE mobile, I KNOW for certain I won’t regret the monthly battle. It’s amazing even now flipping through them and seeing how much she has changed. SO, anyway…..here we go. EB has become quite a mobile character this month weighing in at 24 lbs.

She crawls, she climbs, she crawls and she climbs some more.

(why yes, that is a black eye you see. Mom, would you care to explain it to all of these nice readers? NO? Ok, I will. See, EB and my mom were playing while she was hanging out with her grands. She lost her balance and hit the edge of the bed. Sad, but war stories are always great.)

She has discovered the steps (ahem.. attention JASON BLACK, the gatekeeper)

Due to “school” we have dropped a paci and all baby foods. She loves rabbit! She is a good napper (notice I didn’t say GREAT).

She is about to cut her two top teeth and has actually handled it fairly well.

I failed to mention last month, but she has been officially out of her infant carrier
for a while. Of course, she out grew it and we had no choice. She is a cruiser. I never quite understood that term when folks would ask, but I got it now…b/c I have one, I suppose.

She has developed this shy tendency occasionally and it cracks me up-especially if you know her. She is a spitfire and I think she does the “shy” thing all for show.

She is an avid Bama fan (thank you very much) as she throws her hands up in the air for “TOUCHDOWN BAMA!” We’re slightly proud.

That’s enough for now…she’s growing like a weed and next month it’ll be double digits. EEEEEEK!
WOO HOO!! It's over, EB!

Bama eve....

Us, along with a gabillion other southerners, countdown to this week/weekend EVERY year….COLLEGE FOOTBALL! We HEART our teams here in the South and if this doesn’t give you goosebumps and make you giddy… you must be an Auburn fan:

We’re behind the Tide at our house!! ROLLLLLL TIDE!!

Where.Have.You.Been?

We've been waiting on y'all for DAYS!

JUST kidding. The Blacks have been tucked away with the babe for what feels like WAY too many days. She has been entirely too pitiful. Backing up. As I mentioned, JB fought through Swine 09 and took EB to the doc on Tuesday. As you may recall, she is a magnet for ear infections and something wasn't right. So, I thought we'd be ahead of the curve and get her ears checked. Low and behold-GASP- her ears were clear...... She just has a LOVELY case of HFMD, as they say. What the heck, you ask? Well, Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease of course. Sighhhhh. Basically, I work in PR and have no medical training or terminology mind you, for us, it meant that she would cry/SCREAM for a good 3 days straight, not eat or sleep, have ulcers in her mouth and down her throat, have little blisters/bumps on her face, wrists, legs and other places along with a LOVELY temperature. As a side dish, I have shingles. Don’t you wish you could live at my house right now? The poor child has been pitiful and while it broke my heart, we got LOTS of good cuddle time with the wanderer that didn’t feel like wandering. Since this all meant she was highly contagious she had to miss a week of school and I’m so sad. SHE IS MISSING “TEAM DAY” TODAY AND WE HEART OUR TEAM! I HAD HER OUTFIT ALL READY TO GO, DARN IT!

As summer ends...

We bid farewell (not really..that sounds sad) to the Orientation Leaders over dinner.. and a few germs. Did you know that if someone at your table is exhibiting swine flu-like symptoms, you can just cover your face with a thin, double folded napkin? Jason is terrified of Swine 09 and is taking all necessary precautions (as he sits in a cesspool with EB at the doc AS.I.TYPE.)
This has been a SUPER FUN group and I already miss them. They work so hard for a year gearing up for Orientation and various other duties that come along with being an Orientation Leader under the tutelage of Jason Black. They did outstanding work this summer and I’ll miss them being around TERRIBLY. Their parents (don’t I sound 56) should be so proud of them and the adults they have become. We love them and wish them a HAPPY FALL SEMESTER!!
On a different note, today is EB’s 9 month birthday. Where are her chair pics, you may be asking?! Well, she is QUITE puny (of course…she started day care. It only makes sense that we come down with SOMETHING), therefore not feeling too cheery for chair pics. Maybe soon. She also has some VERY important fall fashion trends she’d like to share when she’s back up to par. Stay tuned (bless your hearts).

We don't dance on tables at our house, but under them.
